Hackney Residents Access Community Health Hubs and Support Networks Locally
People across estates are turning to new hubs and crisis services run by local organisations for everyday wellness needs.
How we reported this
Hackney has launched four new community health hubs at Stamford Hill, Pembury, New Kingshold and Marsh Hill. These sites, operated by Shoreditch Trust, bring Homerton University Hospital health workers and coaches directly into estates to deliver GP-level services along with smoking cessation, weight loss support and exercise classes.
Community Health Hubs in Local Estates
Residents in these neighbourhoods now reach services without travelling far from home. The hubs place staff from Homerton University Hospital inside estate settings so people can attend appointments or join classes close to where they live. This setup supports daily routines such as stopping smoking or managing weight through on-site coaching.
Mental Health Crisis Support Available Daily
The City and Hackney Crisis Hub at The Raybould Centre operates a 24-hour walk-in clinic from 8am to 10pm every day. A Crisis Café runs Monday to Friday from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday to Sunday from 12pm to 4pm. NHS 111 Option 2 remains open around the clock for anyone facing a mental health crisis.
Support for Children, Families and Complex Needs
Families contact Hackney and City Health Visiting on 020 7683 4151 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. The Children’s Continence Service operates from Downs Park Road while CAMHS is based at Hackney Ark. Kooth provides free anonymous online counselling for ages 11 to 19. The City and Hackney Wellbeing Network offers free whole-person care that combines mental health support with help for debt, unemployment or substance use through partnerships with local voluntary services.
Locating Services Through Established Directories
Residents use Healthwatch Hackney’s directory by calling 020 3960 7454 or consult the Hackney Local Offer database for information on services for 0-25s with special educational needs, disabilities or additional needs. These directories connect people to the hubs, crisis facilities and family services already described.
The services sit within Hackney’s active wellness culture and allow residents to combine GP-level care, mental health crisis response and family support in one local area. People reach the hubs and networks through the listed contact points and directories without needing to leave their immediate neighbourhoods.
