Camden Town residents bought 28 percent more local fruit and vegetables at weekend markets in the first half of 2026 than in the same period last year, according to Camden Council trading data released on 6 July.

The increase comes as households look for affordable ways to add nutrient-dense produce to meals without relying on imported items that have risen in price since spring.

The Saturday farmers market on Inverness Street opens at 8am and runs until 2pm, with stalls from growers based within 30 miles of the borough. A second option sits at the Stables Market off Chalk Farm Road, where vendors set up every Sunday from 10am and offer certified organic lines alongside conventional stock.

Both sites lie within a 15-minute walk of Camden Town tube station and accept cash or contactless payments. Regular visitors note that early arrival secures the freshest bunches before lunch crowds arrive.

July produce to watch for

Strawberries from Kent farms sell for £3.50 a punnet this week, while new potatoes from Essex suppliers cost £1.80 per kilogram. Broad beans and courgettes appear in good volume, with the latter priced around £2 per kilogram at the Inverness Street stalls.

Local nutritionists recommend pairing these items with leafy greens that remain abundant through the month. Prices at both markets have stayed steady since May, unlike supermarket averages that climbed 9 percent over the same stretch.
