Brixton's Arts Venues Launch Expanded July Programming With New Shows

Brixton venues have scheduled additional performances and displays for the coming weeks, including a new film series at the Ritzy Cinema on Brixton Road and live sets at Electric Brixton on Town Hall Parade.

July marks the peak of outdoor and indoor events in the area, with residents turning to local options after months of limited indoor gatherings. The timing aligns with school holidays and longer daylight hours that encourage evening outings along Coldharbour Lane and Acre Lane.

Named spots add dates

The Ritzy Cinema will screen a run of independent films from July 15 through the end of the month, while Electric Brixton hosts three ticketed music nights in the same period. Both sites sit within a short walk of Brixton Market, allowing visitors to combine a meal with an evening event. The Black Cultural Archives on Windrush Square has also opened its doors for a weekend pop-up display of local photography that runs Saturdays through August.

Box office records from last summer show the Ritzy sold 4,800 tickets across its July slate, with average prices at £11.50 per seat. Electric Brixton reported 2,100 attendees for its four headline shows in the same month, according to venue statements. Current listings list tickets from £10 to £22 depending on the performance.

Next steps for attendees

Tickets for the Ritzy series go on sale at the box office on July 13. Electric Brixton events require advance purchase through the venue website, with doors opening at 7 p.m. on each night. The photography display at the Black Cultural Archives remains free and open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
