City finance staff in Camden must now prepare the 2027 budget with the new aid figure. Local advocates note the change could shift $1.2 million from the general fund into the public works department, which maintains 142 miles of streets listed in the state road inventory.
Direct Effects on Camden Residents
Property tax bills mailed in January 2027 will reflect any local decision to adjust the municipal portion of the levy. The legislation requires each city to publish its aid amount and proposed tax rate on its website by September 30, 2026. The state Department of Community Affairs will post a comparison table for all participating municipalities on the same date.
