Greenwich Completes Three Major Infrastructure Projects On Schedule, Within Budget
Documented costs, grants and schedules mark the current phase of local roadway, bridge and utility work.
How we reported this
Greenwich is tracking several infrastructure initiatives with explicit dollar amounts and calendar dates attached to each phase. A $4.52 million bridge replacement and a $657,653 state grant for signal upgrades represent two of the largest line items now in motion.
These projects target aging infrastructure and accessibility requirements across multiple corridors. Work is sequenced so that major roadway closures occur during overnight hours where possible, while pedestrian and water-system upgrades proceed on separate tracks.
Bridge Replacement Cost
Construction began in 2026 on the North Street Bridge over West Brothers Brook. The project carries a total price tag of $4.52 million and replaces an aging structure at that location.
State Grant for Signals
Greenwich received a $657,653 state grant for ADA-compliant traffic signal upgrades at Railroad Avenue and Greenwich Avenue. The funding covers new pedestrian signals and left-turn signals at the intersection.
Water Facility Completion Date
Aquarion Water Company finished a pressure-reducing facility near Stanwich Road and Dublin Hill Road by the end of March 2026. The installation improves water distribution in that section of town.
Glenville Corridor Schedule
The Glenville Corridor Project has entered its final phase. Overnight roadway milling and paving are scheduled for June 21-25, 2026.
Pedestrian Improvements Timeline
The Department of Public Works is starting pedestrian improvements on Railroad Avenue and Field Point Road in Spring 2026. The multimodal project is expected to take seven months.
Drivers and residents should monitor official town channels for any lane shifts or overnight restrictions tied to the June milling dates. Further updates on the remaining phases will follow the documented timelines already released by the relevant agencies.
