Lambeth Council Allocates £7M to Upgrade Brixton Rec Heating System

Brixton Town Centre Regeneration Details

Community engagement for the Brixton Town Centre regeneration is scheduled between June and September 2026. The scheme is set to deliver around 280 new homes with 40 percent affordable. A planning application is expected later this year. The broader Brixton programme also covers renovations of a park club building leased to charity Dwaynamics, accessible children's play areas, and delivery of 1,750sqm of affordable employment space.

Assets of Community Value and Past Council Discussion

Brixton Village and Market Row have been designated as assets of community value. This status gives the community a legal right to bid to purchase the sites within six months. At Lambeth Council's first Full Council of 2025, members discussed empty shops in Brixton and a proposed £180,000 project to plant five trees outside Brixton Rec, which remains at the design stage.
