Lambeth Council Plans 280 New Homes in Brixton Regeneration Project

Lambeth Council records list approximately 280 new homes for the Brixton Town Centre regeneration scheme covering the sites at 49 Brixton Station Road and 6 Canterbury Crescent.

The figures come as the council advances the project that also includes workspace units and market infrastructure upgrades. Forty percent of the homes are set to meet the affordable category under the current plan.

These numbers matter now because the council has moved the scheme into its public consultation phase. The two addresses sit inside the existing town centre boundary where market stalls and small businesses already operate. The 280-home total and the 40 percent affordable share represent the core measurable outputs recorded in the council documents.

Community engagement for the project runs from June through September 2026. Sessions include public events and workshops run by consultants AND London. A planning application is listed as expected later in 2026.

Designations and Meeting Dates

Brixton Village and Market Row received Asset of Community Value status from Lambeth Council in July 2025. That designation gives local groups a six-month window to submit bids if either site goes on the market. The Brixton Neighbourhood Forum has scheduled its next quarterly meeting for Monday, October 13, at the Vida Walsh Centre to review planning matters.
